Masui, a Maker’s Piece unfolds at the end of the renovation of Zinneke’s new home — the former Masui printing workshops in the north of Brussels. The film moves through the freshly transformed spaces, meeting the makers, builders, and artists who have shaped them.
Zinneke is a socio-cultural organization known for its inclusive, collective projects and its bi-annual parade celebrating the diversity of Brussels. The renovation of the Masui site extends this spirit of co-creation, turning an old industrial complex into a network of ateliers, rehearsal rooms, and shared areas designed for making, learning, and gathering.
Shot in collaboration with those who built and imagined the project, the film blurs the line between documentary and performance. Through a series of playful, musical, and sometimes absurd gestures, the artists activate the new spaces — echoing the rhythms of work, sound, and movement that inhabit them.
Masui, a Maker’s Piece is both a portrait and a performance: a reflection on collective making, material transformation, and the joyful tension between construction and creation.
